Missed me? Here's an update

Hi babes,

Here we are again, update time. I think by now we have established that I only blog when I feel like it and have the time which is rarely. Now that the school year is over once again but my vacationjob hasn't started yet it's prime blogging time #thumbsupforthat. 

Over the last year I've started my shortened bachelor degree as a nurse. As you may or may not now I graduated as a ''graduated nurse'' which is a level below a bachelor. You basically do the same things but get paid less because the emphasis of the coursework is more practise based than all the theory and reasoning behind why you do things or how the illness is exactly formed. We got the basis version of that but I still wanted to know more about everything so I started my bachelor which is shortened because I already am a nurse. You can combine it with work but I've decided against that because I'm scared I wouldn't get around to studying after work.

Tomorrow I'm getting my grades from the last round of exams so I'm a bit nervous. I've passed the other three rounds so that's great. I really hope I've passed this round also, that would mean a Summer without a resit which would be the first time as a bachelor student. I've attempted a bachelor degree before but that didn't go as well, usually a lot of resits and little to no motivation. I've got a feeling my exams went well so I'm hopeful but you never know. 

As far as Summer plans go... Coming Friday I have an appointment for a new piercing and I couldn't be more excited. I'm planning on getting a dermal underneath my left collarbone. You'll probably get to see a picture on Instagram at the end of the week. Maybe even here if I manage to keep going with the blogging thing. Later in the summer I'm going to Dour festival. It's kind of a tradition by now and again I'm so excited. I'm already planning what to bring and which outfits to wear even though that's kind of impossible with the Belgian weather you never know what you're going to get so my ideas may not even be wearable if it chucks it down with rain the entire week.

After Dour festival I start my summerjob. Two months full time as a nurse in a psychiatric hospital which is really fun. I look forward to it, I kinda missed working this year because I didn't intern nor did a weekendjob so I'd like to get back into the swing of things.

Catch up time - Summerjobs & School

Time for another catch up. 
I'm done doing my summer jobs so I have plenty of time to start blogging again. Hopefully... bare with me ^^. I think what I want to do with my blog next is do blogposts about everything I did this Summer. Looking back seems pretty fun. So look forward to all the throwback blogposts. Let's catch up on my summer in general.

Next, my experience working this Summer. 
My summerjobs are done as I already mentioned. In August I worked at a psychiatric institute as a nurse and I loved it. I really see myself do that for at least a whole lotta years. In September I worked with people with young dementia which was mentally pretty hard. I didn't love it as much as I hoped as I've had great experiences in working with dementia before. It just feels so different knowing that these people are so young and have to deal with this horrible illness. Also it's a job that's physically hard too which I'm not used to anymore after a month in a psychiatric setting. I realize now after my many interns and summerjobs what I'd like to do as a permanent job which made doing a job that I enjoyed less even more difficult.

What now?
As you may know I've graduated my A2 level nursing school this June so I'm qualified to start working as a nurse. However I don't feel ready yet. I've always felt when I was interning or working that my knowledge was limited, too limited to have such responsibilities. I know that you learn most whilst working but it didn't sit well with me that I'd still need to learn so much. So I've decided to start my bachelor degree in nursing. It's a follow-up degree which means I don't need to do the full shebangs for 4 years and do it in 2 years with only 1 day of school a week. Most people decide to combine that with working but I've decided against that.

Why you'd might ask?
I've talked this decision through with many people. People whocombined it with working and quit because it was too much, with my parents who thought I should solely focus on my degree, with colleagues who said you still live at home, you don't have a household, take it easy on yourself and wait with the working thing, and last but not least colleagues who worked part time at schools to help students that have to intern and even they said how hard working students have to work and plan to get everything done and I just didn't see myself being capable of combining work and study. I used to be so tired after interning that I couldn't come 'round to studying when I got home and now that I'm amping up the difficulty level of my degree I just wouldn't get by with barely studying and I'd probably fail. So that's why I'm only going to school 1 day a week and get to have way more down time that I plan to enjoy to the fullest (next to studying of course). I'm looking forward to two more mellow years before I start working full time, yes!
