Hi babes,
Today I'm rewriting the furrybabies blogpost that I promised earlier. It's a long one so prepare yourself.
Last week on Wednesday the 28th of June I believe, we lost Jack the gerbil. He was a very old little gerbil. He was somewhere between four and five years old. Over a year ago we lost his little brother Twinkie so we never expected him to live this long. We kinda figured he would die out of loneliness but he persevered and we tried to keep up by giving him so much attention. My brother became a replacement Twinkie, as he's the only boy in the house Jack gravitated toward my brother. He bloody loved my brother. He became a lot more tame over the last year. He was so active and was always running around, jumping through the room(he would always jump of the bed and claim the rest of the room), reclaiming his territory after my hamster would've been in the room before him, shredding every piece of cardboard the could get his paws on.
Anyways it was all fun and games untill about a month ago he became sick. When I got home we noticed he wouldn't use his back legs anymore. Just like that out of the blue, he didn't fall or anything so he couldn't have broken something. He also had a small wound on his foot but even when that healed, he didn't start using his legs again. We were prepared for things to go quickly by this point, we didn't think he would make it through the night. Anais wasn't even home so I begged Jack the gerbil to hold on until she got home and boy he did, he held on and on and managed to get by, half paralysed might I add, for longer than a MONTH. We have one though cookie of a gerbil. He didn't seemed to be in pain or sad about it. He managed to live with his handicap and did almost everything as he used too, even with the heathwave that was going on. He would still rip toiletrolls to shreds, he would just do it laying down,... The only difference was he didn't want to go out of his cage anymore nor did he want human contact. I think he felt more vulnorable and less safe because he couldn't really safe himself anymore incase of danger.
About a week before he died he would start to bury his bottom half in to the bedding and just eat like that, he started to chew on wood/cardboard less and less. The last two days he didn't move himself at all anymore, he started to eat less to barely anything, he slept continuously and eventually died in his sleep. Which is the best outcome I guess, you never want to see your pet suffer it's best if they go in their sleep. He had a good life and we were so happy to have had him in our lives as long as we did. Gerbils are just the best creatures. <3
Onto Ganache the hamster, he's also getting old. He's past the two-year-old mark and we're starting to notice. He's more grey than brown. He isn't as active anymore, also doesn't want to come out of the cage as badly as he used to. He would do anything in the past to get out and get cuddles and free running space but now he just seems to tired for it.
He got a bit sick over the winter. He had an eye that kept getting clogged up. It was sticky and stuck both eyelids together so he couldn't see if we didn't rub it open with a warm cloth. Eventually we took him to the vets and as by miracle just arriving at the vet seemed to heal him. Nothing to see except the most active excited little hamster but the vet gave us eyedrops just in case. Of course by the end of the week his eye got sticky again and he had to have a week of antibiotic eyedrops twice a day. It was a struggle as he really didn't want to get these drops but we made it, his eye healed and has been healthy ever since.
Over the past days we noticed he sleeps most of the day and night, he doesn't run (as far as I can tell) in his wheel. He breathes faster and his heartrate seems to be up. He stumbles and seems to fall over a lot of the time. We fear he might have diabetes which apparently has these symptoms. We've put him on a sugarfree diabetes diet and hope this will fix it or at least keep it under control. We did give him a lot of fruit en veggies over the past month maybe that has caused it together with his old age? We don't know but hope for te best. I'll update when things change.

Missed me? Here's an update
Hi babes,
Here we are again, update time. I think by now we have established that I only blog when I feel like it and have the time which is rarely. Now that the school year is over once again but my vacationjob hasn't started yet it's prime blogging time #thumbsupforthat.
Over the last year I've started my shortened bachelor degree as a nurse. As you may or may not now I graduated as a ''graduated nurse'' which is a level below a bachelor. You basically do the same things but get paid less because the emphasis of the coursework is more practise based than all the theory and reasoning behind why you do things or how the illness is exactly formed. We got the basis version of that but I still wanted to know more about everything so I started my bachelor which is shortened because I already am a nurse. You can combine it with work but I've decided against that because I'm scared I wouldn't get around to studying after work.
Tomorrow I'm getting my grades from the last round of exams so I'm a bit nervous. I've passed the other three rounds so that's great. I really hope I've passed this round also, that would mean a Summer without a resit which would be the first time as a bachelor student. I've attempted a bachelor degree before but that didn't go as well, usually a lot of resits and little to no motivation. I've got a feeling my exams went well so I'm hopeful but you never know.
As far as Summer plans go... Coming Friday I have an appointment for a new piercing and I couldn't be more excited. I'm planning on getting a dermal underneath my left collarbone. You'll probably get to see a picture on Instagram at the end of the week. Maybe even here if I manage to keep going with the blogging thing. Later in the summer I'm going to Dour festival. It's kind of a tradition by now and again I'm so excited. I'm already planning what to bring and which outfits to wear even though that's kind of impossible with the Belgian weather you never know what you're going to get so my ideas may not even be wearable if it chucks it down with rain the entire week.
After Dour festival I start my summerjob. Two months full time as a nurse in a psychiatric hospital which is really fun. I look forward to it, I kinda missed working this year because I didn't intern nor did a weekendjob so I'd like to get back into the swing of things.
That's it for now,
I'm also gonna write a little animal update after this so you'll have that to look forward to.
Goodbyeeee,
Nikki

Someday randoms #8
Hi lovelies,
I've been looking back to old pictures on my laptop and that's when I found these gems that were never posted.
Back in Summer when there wasn't a house in front of ours.
Excited about pikapilly, my small present to Anais
Behind the scenes of this blogpost
Vanille ice cream, fresh strawberries, frozen raspberries and fresh red berrysauce
Out for drinks
Frozen yoghurt at the seaside with the biggest mismatch of toppings
Stopped for a peebreak at a highway gasstation when we got back from the sea and this was what I saw at the toilet, every toilet had different wallpaper, in another one you sat in the middle of the jungle. It's amazing and so original.
#artistic, no just kidding was craving coconut and strawberries at the same time
Outfit that never made it as an OOTD

Update anyone?
Hi lovelies,
Long time, no see. I've been quite busy the last few weeks and because of that I planned some blogposts in advance so I haven't blogged in weeks but today we're getting back on track with a lifestyle/getting up to date blogpost. So what have I been up to? The second half of August I've been filling in exams, yes so much fun... Every time this time a year I regret not studying more during the schoolyear so I could avoid having to study in the vacationtime. I took my last exam on Monday, the first of September which was also my birthday! But I'll tell you more about that later.
On Wednesday I got a lot of things done. Mainly I enrolled in a new school for a couple of reasons. My grades were lacking so I probably had to change schools anyway but I made the decision before I even got the grades from my retakes. I changed schools because where I used to study I was following a bachelor in nursing which was a lot of theory and studying with less time to actually practise and where I'm starting now the focus lies mainly on practise and less on the theoryside of things. More do than study. I think that suits me better because I basically have the concentrationlevels of a goldfish when it comes to studying. I hope I finally enrolled in a course that fully suits me because I've been done with secondary school for 3 years now and it's about time I find the thing that I really want to do. So I'm still studying to be a nurse but in a different school, on a different level with a different view on things. I'm starting in my second year so thank god I didn't have to start for the 3th time in the 1st year.
I have been loving 3th day curly hair which is just all over the place |
Onto other exciting news... This weekend Anais is taking me to Disneyland Paris for my birthday along with Aida and Melanie. It's going to be so much fun and I'm really excited so I have lots of things to get done and I'm not sure if I'm going to get blogposts up so be patient with me.

A day in my life - vacationjob edition
Hi lovelies,
Little impromptu blogpost. I just got back from a late shift working with elder people who suffer from dementia. It was quite a rough evening. Usually it's pretty chill but today they were all feeling kind of off, I guess. Everything seemed a lot harder for them. There was a lot of talking nonsense, a lot of complaining, confusing each other, a lot of difficulties with walking and other problems like not being able to hold a glass. It was hard for them but certainly also nervewrecking for me, as an intern. It took a lot of patience and by the end of the night I was definitely annoyed and had enough, just wanting to go home. I treated myself to fries to make me feel better which worked. I complained to my girlfriend which also helped and now I'm complaining here, which also works ;). Things that did cheer me up besides that were all the animals that visited the workplace today. Look below.
Kitty, she is a wild cat that just roams the elders home and gets food and cuddles everywhere but look how pretty she is. She is very cute and loves cuddles.
This is lucky, he is the 9year-old dog from one of the nurses that works at the supervised independent living homes where I work. He got to roam around and play with the elders for the entire shift. He followed me around for quite some time. Sadly the cat wasn't to pleased with his presence.
This one is Dex and was visiting with his owner who is family of one of the elders. He is a rescuedog and is fully equipped with a flashlight and bell for emergencies. He is so playful, loved cuddles and attention.
I'm still working on the Dour photos so keep waiting for those please. I hope you loved this post in return.

Radio-silence
Hi lovelies,
I am currently still at the seaside making sandcastles, laying on the beach if the weather allows that and other fun stuff but the sad news is that I ran out of blogposts by this point so until I'm back my blog will hold a vacation too that shouldn't be that long anymore. A couple more days without me, you can do it!

Someday randoms #7
Hi lovelies,
My life has been a bit boring lately. Examseason has started and is going hard, I wish I could say the same about me, unfortunately all I want to do is sleep because exams really drain me. My life has been pretty home-bound except when I have to go to school to take my exams.
As you will see on the pictures below the weather has been going crazy lately. From rainbows to summerdays from 34 degrees to hailstorms. It's been crazy and slightly nervewrecking. Picture a big storm and then try to study when you're in your mind already planning what to do incase of fire brought by lightning strikes or other emergencies. Trust me not a good combo.
Rainbows
Studying
Crazy clouds
Selfie time whilst studying. I applied extensions out of pure boredom and to see the effect because I have cheap clip-ins but never use them but as you can see I didn't blend them in all that well.
Continue studying
Trying on my girlfriends gaming headset, I look like a pilot.
I tried to put Pluisje, the bunny in it's outside home in the garden. She did not agree with it, saw a chance of freedom, attacked me and jumped out of my arms and ran for it. It took quite some time and 4 people to catch her again. In the end we had to grab the other bunny so that she would try to to make babies with him and that's how we eventually got her. Naughty bunny.
My girlfriend is officially the best girlfriend ever because she brought me a late-night Mcdonalds delivery. I got the new wrap, the spicy one. In my excitement my picture got blurry.
Handpicked cherries out of our garden, I've also been munching on fresh raspberries out of our garden.
Since the exams started I've also started to drink fruitjuices daily. I'm trying to be a little more healthy but not to the extreme because I love my junkfood but when I'm not eating junkfood I'm trying to get more fruit en veggies in my body. I am aware that fruitjuices contain a lot of sugar but I really don't mind. It will still be better for you than cola or other carbonised drinks.
Giant berries
As you can see my life has been all about studying, looking at the weather outside my window and eating. What have you been doing?

Someday randoms #6
Hi lovelies,
In case you're wondering what I do with my life, you're going to find out. Someday randoms-time it is! Keep on scrollin' you know you want too.
I made myself this tasty juice. In an odd moment of trying to be healthy I made a strawberry-raspberry-red berry-juice (combined with some orange juice because it would be edible instead of drinkable if you don't)
In an adventurous mood I ordered a skateboard online. I am so desperate to learn but I'm sooo scared at the same time. I really don't have a clue what I'm doing but I will learn, I just need to.
Google congratulations on my girlfriends birthday.
Iced mango-pineapple smoothie at McDonalds.
My cute little nephew visited. We took selfies of course.
Me and Anais went to a party, happens only 2 a year or so. I'm not cool who am I kidding?
Party going strong.
My mommy made me a tiny bouquet of flowers, look how cute.
Aaaah so pretty.
Goodbyeeeee

Someday Randoms #5
Hi lovelies,
I have a little round up of pictures from my life lately. I'm currently taking a vacation on our Belgian coast so that's why the content might not has been so great, I wrote everything last fridayevening. I just didn't want to not upload. So I'm now enjoying the beach even though the weather isn't as great probably and I've spend a week without Wi-Fi. Posts about this will probably follow in the next few days.
Weekend funzies, We've spend a couple of weekends watching geordie shore whilst eating chocolate and crisps.
Me and Anais also spend a date in Sweet Coffee, which is a special coffee place as you might have guessed. I went for a piece of oreocake which was lovely and Anais got the oreocoffee.
Anais knows really well that to get to my heart, she has to get me food so this is result and I couldn't have been happier. Who wants a fancy meal when you can have a bowl of unhealthy but jummy food?
Recently I've been wearing this hairstyle a lot, I've gotten a ton of compliments on it. I saw how to do it here. I'll link it because Meghan explained it so easily that you can recreate it without trouble.
Lastly I also have to mention that I've been studying for 2 exams, which I think I passed but you can never be sure so cross your fingers for me.
What have you been up to lately?
Goodbyeeee
